I liked it so much I ended up purchasing it and then using it in work to edit my department's outdated tutorial videos for student orientation. I'm an instructional design grad student and finally tried Camtasia to create a portfolio piece for a job application. Intuitive, easy to learn, polished results I have no hesitation in recommending Camtasia.

I did have to upgrade my hardware so it could keep up (including an SSD drive) but the software did amazingly well. My timeline generally started with 3 video feeds (3 angles on my work table), a separate audio feed, and Powerpoint slides, then I'd layer in special effects, annotations, and other items. I had used Camtasia casually for 7-8 years, for fairly small projects, so this was a big step up in my requirements. I just finished an intensive 6-months project using Camtasia for editing a 30+ hour educational videos series for artists. Has been indispensible in creating my new video series Also, you can copy & paste these created elements into the new project file, which helps in reducing your editing time when you need to use an already created element. to make the video more engaging.Ĭamtasia also has easy to use screen recording feature, which comes in handy when you need to create PPT-based videos, or need to record a short clip for inserting into your final video.Īnother thing I like about the software is, that you can group the elements on the video timeline, so when you are creating an element with too many effects, and animations combined then you can group those elements to show as one element. For example, after you record a video with the green screen, you can then remove the background color using the 'remove a color' option, and, later you can add callouts with effects, animations, etc. These features help in creating professional-looking videos. Talking about most favorite features, I like the 'remove a color' effect, callouts, transition effects, & animations. The user interface for creating presentations within Camtasia Studio has not been tested.Camtasia has all the required features, and a simple UI to help you create polished Videos without needing to spend too much time learning the software. If you cannot interact with the presentation, ask the author to provide the video as a simple MPEG-4 file that you can play in your own media player. One option would be to put the quiz in Moodle. Quizzes included with the presentation will need to be delivered in another format.
To make a more optimal experience you can repackage the MPEG-4 video along with the SRT captions into a video player like VideoJS.

You can record presentations with Camtasia Studtio, but you should only use the standalone MPEG-4 movie to share with others. If you don’t use the HTML-based player and if you include captions, the captions will be open captions (always visible on the screen). Camtasia Studio is capable of producing movies that are either standalone MPEG-4 files or as video files embedded in Web pages.
